The PRS SE McCarty 594 is designed to capture the essence of vintage guitar tones while
delivering modern reliability. Named after Ted McCarty, the legendary guitar pioneer
who influenced Paul Reed Smith’s early designs, this model strikes a balance between
classic character and contemporary playability. This limited edition features a striking
laurel burl veneer, adding a unique look to this popular model.
At its core, the SE McCarty 594 features a mahogany body with a maple top, combining
warmth and sustain with a touch of brightness. The Pattern Vintage mahogany neck
provides a familiar yet refined feel, while the rosewood fingerboard, adorned with PRS
bird inlays, offers smooth playability across all 22 frets. The 24.594” scale length—just
slightly shorter than typical PRS models—contributes to its vintage feel, adding to the
guitar’s natural character.
Equipped with PRS 58/15 “S” pickups, the SE McCarty 594 Laurel Burl Limited Edition
delivers clarity and fullness in equal measure. These pickups are designed to evoke the
tones of the iconic instruments from the ‘50s, with the ability to handle both clean and
overdriven settings with ease. The push/pull tone controls further enhance the guitar’s
versatility, allowing players to access both humbucking and single-coil tones in one
instrument. With a two-piece bridge and vintage-style tuners, the SE McCarty 594 Laurel
Burl Limited Edition offers solid intonation and tuning stability.
Only 500 of these instruments will be made for 2025.
