The Dr. Z Z-Best Cab has now been updated to Dr. Z's new Z-Best LT cab shaving 20 lbs off the old design!
The Z-Best is a 2x12 closed back, ported design that is rather unique, and EASILY one of our favorite cabs here at Humbucker Music. It's a 2x12 with the punch and low end of a 4x12! Perfect!
With the ZBest, Dr. Z utilizes a Theile Ported design which allows them to dial in the full frequency range of the guitar. Low end is determined by the port thickness, mid response by the shelf depth, and top end by choice of speakers. Placed vertically, the Z Best delivers a tuned and focused sound, yet has the airy qualities associated with open back cabs. When placed horizontally, you pick up a bit more low end as the port is then coupled with the floor. This Z-Best is also a long throw cabinet that will get the sound to the back of the room.
The Z-Best Cabs here at Humbucker Music are loaded with a Celestion G12H-30 and the Celestion G12M Creamback. We have found through a good deal of testing that this combination works quite well together. In addition to our findings, many customers have reported the same.
