The Fender American Vintage '58 Precision Bass is a superb re-creation of a legend. In 1957, Fender gave the first electric bass its second major makeover, in the process creating the iconic axe as we know it today. For the American Vintage Series, Fender secured a goldmine of the original instruments, and painstakingly re-created them in minute detail - restoring original tooling dies, voicing new pickups, reformulating vintage colors, and more. Sporting a satisfyingly chunky maple neck, a gold anodized aluminum pickguard, and a punchy split single-coil pickup, the Fender American Vintage '58 Precision Bass lets you live the legend.

Painstaking vintage accuracy graces this guitar

For the American Vintage '58 Precision Bass, Fender tracked down several of the original '58s and exhaustively analyzed them to ensure a painstaking level of vintage accuracy. Every facet of the original instruments - including minute details such as curves, perimeters, radii and more - was examined, measured, evaluated, and ultimately incorporated into the American Vintage '58 Precision. What you see in this remarkable axe is more than the sum of its parts. It's a highly playable, eminently musical-sounding re-creation of an iconic instrument that changed music forever.

Beauty, tone, and playability

With Fender's American Vintage '58 Precision Bass, there's genius in the details. This remarkable guitar's beauty, tone, and playability are no accident. Originally sporting a non-contoured "slab" body at its 1951 launch, the Precision received its first makeover for the '54/'55 model year, gaining the comfortable Strat-like body contours we know and love. Of course, a late '50s Precision has to have the classic gold anodized aluminum pickguard. Then, there's the satisfyingly chunky 1-piece maple neck with rolled fingerboard edges and 20 vintage-style frets. And pumping out that classic beefy growl - a newly-designed split single-coil American Vintage '58 Precision pickup.

The magic of Fender's American Vintage series

Since its introduction in the early 1980s, Fender's American Vintage series has been the go-to source for the last word in original-era model year guitars. With today's American Vintage guitars, Fender has gone back to the drawing board with new features, new specs and the most fanatical level of vintage accuracy yet. They've restored original tooling dies, voiced new pickups, reformulated vintage colors, and more - based on actual vintage guitars. From its flawless vintage looks, to its impeccable tone and playing feel, there's pure magic in the Fender American Vintage '58 Precision Bass!
