A little rough around the edges but all functions work properly and have been tested. The Value Knob is not a factory knob but was replaced at some time but functions just fine.
The XK-1 utilizes many of the features of the XK-3 but in a premium package. You still get "The Sound;" you get "Real Drawbars;" you get waterfall keys (lighter industry standard keybed); you can plug in a Leslie 21 system… all this in a traditional Hammond cabinet. At only 33 lbs. the XK-1 is an essential part of any touring band's keyboard rig! And who better to give you the B-3 sound than Hammond, the B-3's inventor?
Hammond XK-1 At A Glance:
Vintage Tone Wheel and Extra Sounds
This new Hammond XK-1 offers you the classic "tone-wheel" sound by utilizing two VASE III 96 Digital Tone Wheels. The XK-1's sampled waveform makes it possible to reproduce all of the characteristics of the vintage Hammond B-3. Waveforms include B-type, Mellow, Brite (Upper and lower), Muted, Normal, and Synth (Pedal). In addition, the XK-1 offers eight "Extra Voice" sounds such as electric piano.
Drawbars, Presets, And Leslie, Oh My!
But wait! The new Hammond XK-1 also includes a set of nine drawbars, a 2-rotor digital Leslie, a vibrato/chorus knob, a digital overdrive, 10 reverbs, and a built-in 3-band equalizer to go beyond the features you would expect to find on a vintage Hammond B-3.
Lightweight Modern Keyboard Technology Meets Vintage B-3
But there's more. The Hammond XK-1 will perform like no previous tone-wheel Hammond could ever do, such as Pitch Bend/Modulation, Transpose and MIDI. The Hammond XK-1's library of 132 Programmable Patches allows you to save and store your own Drawbar combinations, MIDI information, whatever you like. All this in a compact 33-pound package. That's 33 pounds, NOT 430! Show up to a gig with a Hammond XK-3 and your band and your back will love you. (So will your fans.)
