The Breedlove Pursuit Nylon Concert Cutaway is Breedlove’s best-selling acoustic-electric guitar. With a versatile play style, conducive to strumming and fingerstyle, it’s the perfect professional-grade instrument for players looking for an all-in-one guitar that can stand out and carry the rhythm or be soft, sweet and nuanced when played fingerstyle. The tone is warm and rich with a solid red cedar top and mahogany back and sides. It’s easy to play with a 1 11/16” radiused neck. It includes the reliable and great-sounding L.R. Baggs EAS electronics. The cutaway body gives full access to all 20 frets. It’s comfortable to hold, terrific to play and visually stunning. Players sound better, play better and play more on a Breedlove Pursuit Series acoustic-electric guitar.
The Concert, Breedlove’s most popular body shape—designed 30 years ago and still going strong—is favored by discerning players for its versatile, balanced, articulate sound and easy playing ergonomic comfort. This flagship platform performs equally well strummed or fingerpicked, and is perfectly poised for accompanying the human voice.
Softer than spruce, with a warmer cast to its look and its tone, western red cedar has less headroom for a heavy attack, but comes alive—with sweet harmonics and a wide tonal palette—for a lighter touch. Related to mahogany, it shares a focused sound, much loved by fingerstylists.
Long treasured by cabinetmakers and shipwrights for its simple, straight-grained beauty, strength and workability, mahogany—used in tops, backs, sides and necks—is also one of the true classic tonewoods. Famous for its clear, strong fundamental; even string-to-string balance; and warm midrange emphasis, the mahogany back and sides of the Breedlove Pursuit Nylon Concert pairs well with the spruce top. The sound produced by this combination has defined much of American roots music.
Breedlove’s pinless Delta bridge is a distinctive element, with a sleek, modern contour that adds an extra bit of unexpected beauty to every instrument. But it also adds welcome functionality while anchoring great sound. Beginners love the fact that string changes are much easier without having to wrestle a traditional pin bridge, and professional players love it for the same reason. You'll no longer have to search for lost pins during a fast backstage string swap. And its low profile makes for perfect right hand damping.
Breedlove guitar necks feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. Unlike traditional dovetail neck joints that require major surgery for a neck re-set, it is easy to adjust the play action and neck angle with the Breedlove bolt-on neck and single-action truss rod. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish contributes to ideal playability. The finish process alone takes three days, including precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.
Solid Tonewood Top
The Breedlove Pursuit Nylon Concert Cutaway CE acoustic-electric guitar features a solid top, which is the defining element of its sound. Through its vibration, the solid top drives the key aspects of the guitar's volume, tone, sustain and projection. The solid wood top translates the vibrations with more immediacy and purity of tone, and reacts more directly with the intent of a player. If you are at an intermediate level or above, you will appreciate the instantly recognizable benefits of this solid wood top.
